A Card Catalogue
A Card Catalogue – Part Two

August 13, 2014

Summer is quickly winding down and I’m trying hard to squeeze every second out of these last two weeks.

The sessions at the Halifax Lee Valley Store went great, with many local artisans and wood workers attending.

It’s always nice to visit the city of Halifax and I recommend you do the same if you ever have the opportunity.

Removing the waste with a fret saw is easy and efficient.

Today I’m uploading the second part of the Card Catalogue series-

this one is all about dovetails, through dovetails to be specific.

The video speaks for itself and should demonstrate the steps involved in the technique.

If you have any questions or comments about the tools, the technique, the steps involved or the lay-out process I use,

feel free to join the conversation below ~

I’ll post some more information on the card catalogue in a later post when I get a spare moment and a reliably WiFi signal –

[inlinetweet prefix=”” tweeter=”” suffix=””]”These so-called vacations will soon be my death ! ” [/inlinetweet]  ( Tweet that )

The design has some interesting history, a little inspiration, and I’ll tell you why I chose this project for my book.

Still lots to do in the short amount of time we have left here on the Coast,

but I’ll keep you updated as it all unfolds.

Until then, thanks for reading and watching!

THE MUSIC AND THE TOOLS

The music in this video is a song I wrote called ‘Nathalie’.

It’s off the first SUNFISH CD which incidentally, is celebrating it’s 20th anniversary this year!

I must be getting old~; )

That CD is available here on iTunes.

Some of the tools I used in the video are:

Bad Axe Backsaws

Dividers

Skew Block Plane

Veritas Hold-Down
