A Kerfing Plane in Winnipeg

September 3, 2014

I received a letter from Shane a few weeks back and wanted to share it with you.

Shane recently completed a Kerfing Plane following the plans from my book, The Unplugged Woodshop.

He used Quarter Sawn White Oak on the project and I think it turned out great.

If you haven’t tried using one of these tools yet, you should really consider making one.

It can be used in so many different work shop applications.

From joinery to veneer.

I love using my Kerfing Plane, and hope Shane enjoys using this one!

Thanks again for sharing this with us ~

great job on the new Kerfing Plane!

Hi there,

After about a month and a bit this busy summer, I finished my kerfing plane. I did it here and there on evenings and weekends. I used quarter sawn white oak, it turned out great. I applied a finish of tried and true Danish oil, followed by paste wax. I’m happy with the design of the saw and have just started on my frame saw, I can’t wait to use them together.

I can’t wait for your next projects, even though I have more then enough to build from your books that are out.

Winnipeg, Manitoba
