Join me for 5 days in April, May & June 2023.
In this class you’ll get an intensive, five day workshop focusing on the fundamental skills in workshop etiquette and hand tools. From a plank of hardwood to a finished presentation box that will be uniquely yours!
You’ll begin the week with dimensioning project parts while learning about work holding and workbenches, proper body positioning and how lighting is extremely important in the work space. You’ll learn about the tools you’re using and how to sharpen and maintain them. You’ll get lots of hands on practice with hand sawing, hand planing and other critical aspects of working with solid wood by hand.
On days two and three you’ll learn about furniture construction and what joinery works best where. You’ll cut through dovetails on the box corners and set up and use a plow plane for the bottom grooves on the inside.
On day four you’ll learn about wood finishing and glue ups as you pre-finish your project parts and then at the end of the day you’ll glue up your project!
On day five you’ll take your projects out of the clamps and refine and define the outside of the box.
This week long intensive is kind of a summary of the longer ten week Artisan Program.
