Can you believe it’s the Fall already?
Pretty soon the kids will be trick or treating and the leaves will be falling, the furnace will be belching and the days will be shorter and well, we’ll be keeping warm at the workbenches, making lots of wood shavings.
The Unplugged Woodshop Fall schedule is now posted and we have lots of opportunities for you to get woodworking!
Saturday,October 1st & 22nd:
For the curious beginners, we have our Saturday morning Introduction to Hand Tool classes. This is a great way to come into the UW and see what hand tools can do for you. If you’ve never used a hand tool, and think working wood may be the thing for you- this is the place to begin!
Saturday, Oct. 8th:
For students who may have already joined us for an Intro Class, or anyone else who’d like to try a full day at the workbench, we have an intensive, all day Saturday, Hand Tool Boot Camp. In this class we basically combine three of our most popular classes into one- you’ll learn the basics of our Intro Classes, as well as some advanced techniques and perhaps the most important step- how to sharpen your hand tools!
Saturday, Oct. 29th:
What’s the next step after a Hand Tool Boot Camp? ( happy you asked-; ) it’s a Joinery Boot Camp. In this day class you’ll build a decorative frame while you execute the four most popular joints in woodworking- a lap joint, a bridle joint, a dovetail and a mortise & tenon.
If you already have some experience with hand tools, and would like to use the UW to work on your own projects, we offer Makerspace time on Saturday afternoons from 12:30 – 5:30.
