My six year old son Nelson and I completed his project yesterday after my wood class with Rob-
( thanks again for the Cinnamon – Pear preserve !! )
Nelson has been working on ‘ wood-E’ for the past while and finally decided to call him done !
He used my smaller scale back saws to dimension the components as well as cutting joinery. The brace and bit to bore holes and the egg beater for finer parts…last week we made some dowels from oak offcuts driving them down through my dowel plate with the big ‘ol wooden mallet…what could be more fun than that when you’re six years old ?
The woodshop is always so much better when children are near.
Enjoy them while you can.

Priceless! Nothing like time spent in the shop with the kids.
I always seem to be on edge when my kids are in the shop. Thanks for the reminder that they’ll only be kids a little while.
Well done Nelson, I can see you catching up with your Dad before long, keep up that woodworking and watch your fingers when sawing.
Cheers
Steve
I never could get my daughter to be excited about shop time. She liked what I made but just didn’t enjoy the process. Oh well, it’s not for everyone. So you are twice blessed and I’m happy for you.

thanks for the nice comments everyone- seems like a great time of year to get the kids in the shop….the winter is startin’ to wear a little thin on everyone’s nerves and we’re anxious for spring to arrive so wood shop time makes for good indoor time.
cheers!
